'Malacostraca' is a deeply personal project which explores the director's worst fears and concerns. It is not so much truly about the fear of having a baby as it is about the fear of having a baby with the wrong partner. Malacostraca is about what happens when someone whose been so singled minded in their attempts to become what they feel they are 'owed' to (in this case be a successful writer) that they lose sight over the real life they actually have and how they could best optimize that over their own internal selfish fantasies. Is it best to prioritize one's personal dreams and desires over all else? Perhaps not. 'Malacostraca' takes this warped sense of thinking and brings it to a hideous and horrifying conclusion.
