Filmmaker Statement

"Memorial" is my senior comps film (essentially my senior thesis). It is the product of collaboration amongst a class of film students, each producing their own film, and needed to be 10 minutes long. The film follows Robbie (Bek Markas) through the streets of New York City as a hearing condition called tinnitus inhibits his daily life in seemingly mundane environments. The idea came from a desire to use my home and filming location (NYC) to my advantage in order to create a dynamic and dramatic soundscape to represent the way Robbie experiences the world around him, as opposed to the way everyone else does.
