Midnight H(e)aven is a social-surrealist film about working in the food service industry and the fears that come with leaving a regular paycheck. It draws on the experience of working a minimum wage job and the insecurity that often comes with youth. This film aims to represent the lives of queer people, with their identity being secondary to the richness of their experiences. Shot in an intimate and fractured style, this film challenges the ebb and flow of time. Stretching out the slow moments with long takes and rushing the thrill of action through long exposure. Rich with metaphors and open for interpretation this film aims to bring you closer to the stories that are not often told. The unrequited loves, the missed opportunities. The connections we failed to act on because of anxiety, insecurity and doubt. This film is a love letter to those who work in food service, to those who are afraid to chase their dreams, to the queer community as a whole.
