I wanted to create a world that took place in an indefinable no man's land. For practical reasons, we couldn’t film in nature outside the city. So it was important for me to find nature areas in and around the city, but make the places unrecognisable through weather conditions and natural light. For this film, I wanted portraits and paintings, where the camera doesn't move or barely, more like photographs where one person move in it. So from that perspective it was obvious to me I had to shoot this on the Digital Bolex D16 now that we couldn't afford to shoot on film. The story takes place in a kind of timeless alternate reality and the aesthetic of Bolex D16 felt like the right call for that.
