At the time, someone close to me had lost a family member, and they kept saying their ghost was going to haunt them. Since I knew the dynamics of their complicated relationship, it got me thinking--what is a ghost, and how much is one's interpretation of a ghost experience related to the relationships unresolved conflicts. What is a person to do when they have an unresolved conflict with a loved one and that person dies? It can make a person feel stuck, and the ghost metaphor seemed well suited to demonstrate these mixed and complicated emotions. I wanted to create a story showing a character stuck with these ruminating thoughts and only by reevaluating the past through a new lens, can she move forward and forgive.
