Filmmaker Statement

As a New Zealand-born Malaysian-Chinese creator, my upcoming project "NAI" is a deeply personal exploration of the transformative journey into motherhood. I want to challenge the societal silence around the less fulfilling aspects of this experience and shed light on the struggle to rediscover one's identity. In this narrative, I aim to go beyond stereotypical portrayals of Asian women by featuring a single mother dealing with mental health challenges, showcasing the diversity within our ethnicity. With a diverse creative team, I am committed to promoting inclusivity in the industry, believing in the untapped talent that can compete at an excellent level. I draw inspiration from my dual cultural background, telling stories that reflect the commonalities and humanity in both worlds. The industry is gradually turning towards inclusivity, and I feel privileged to contribute to this positive shift with "NAI."
