Filmmaker Statement

Sitting in the back seat of my buddy's car after a long day of emotional ups and downs, an overwhelming sense of bliss swept over me. As the city's night lights reflected on those sitting in the front seat, I was entranced by the vastness of the metropolis in the darkness. Not only did the buildings have a pictorial particularity but also a sensation of comfort. They made me feel that everyone in the city could see the skyscrapers' glowing harmony through different lenses. That night, the city represented a sense of risk accompanying any change in life. The experience transpired at a time when I felt more hopeful about my future than ever before. This picture I painted reminded me of when I faced uncertainty and doubt that things would never be as good as they once were. The crisis I once faced was personified in the character Elle as she grapples with uncertainty about the trajectory of her future. Is it easier to remain with the familiar regardless of the negative impact, or would it be better to take the risk and explore the unknown?
