Filmmaker Statement

In the mid-20th century, the secret underground organisation P26 was founded in Switzerland out of fear of the East. Civilians were recruited and given military training. They had to live double lives. The fear of the foreign is one of the central concepts of this film. People who joined this secret underground organisation paid a high, lifelong price. The dedication to a cause and the associated sacrifices inspired the main character, who lives in complete seclusion and tells no one, not even her own daughter, about her past. The concept of silence was central to the writing of the script, which tells the story of people in a deterministic world and their intertwined fates. The characters live in solitude and strive for belonging. Kajsa, whose mother could never give her the closeness she wished for, finds it in an unusual place, with Ossip and a people-smuggling ring.
