Filmmaker Statement

I have been documenting the American far right for over 2 decades. After the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, VA there was intense interest in the activity and the makings of activists on the right. One of the young men involved in the events in Charlottesville told me that he was identified online and was expecting to be arrested. WE talked about his family and he mentioned that his parents weren't initially supportive, but "they were coming around." I didn't believe him at that point, because previously I had not seen parents converted by their children. Then a few weeks after his arrest, I ran into his parents at a rally I was photographing. I began to tell their story.
