A guy I was in love with actually broke up with me like this: "You're the perfect girl, but not for now, for ten years from now." At the time, I was devastated. But what I enjoy doing as a writer/director is taking painful moments and processing them into something funny & relatable. Telling this story -- about a character naive enough to believe a man saying this -- was so fulfilling. At all the screenings, the guys in the audience laughed like it was a comedy and so many women came up to me after to say it was a horror film. We shot the short in two days during the 2023 Writers Strike. My husband and I are both television writers and couldn't work, so we weren't making any money, but we and all our friends were dying to do something creative. Then a very timely gig came through for my husband/producer writing punch-up jokes on a Buffalo Wild Wings commercial, and it ended up paying for the whole film. I feel like this film is the fullest representation of who I am as a filmmaker.
