Filmmaker Statement

"Peripherals" was a story born out of isolation – physically and emotionally. But the production was defined by inclusivity. I began writing the script in April 2020, we shot the short in one-day in July 2021 with a small budget, and we finished the final edit in January 2022. When we went to shoot, I was proud we had created a majority woman-identifying cast and crew. "Peripherals" is my first short film as a director, screenwriter, and producer, but it was also the first time I was on a film set with a woman producer, woman director of photography, and all women cast. Because this film features a queer love story between two women, I wanted to make sure we had a crew that could come together and give life to this story with great care. I'm proud our short film had both gender and racial diversity on-set. All members of the cast and crew worked hard to bring this script to life and I am delighted to present to you our short film.
