Petty is a fun exploration into the brash, self-obsessed, and catty. Our DP, Jon Bass, and I wanted to dip our toes into full fledged comedy, something we had never truly done before. We were roommates a few years back, and he once bought an inflatable pool, which was DEFINITELY against our lease, and put it out on the porch. The result was a sad small, bug infested pool party. This memory was our starting point for the film. The script was written with our actors, Maria Smal and Ethan Greenlee, in mind, and they both slid into the mean girls energy right away. The whole thing really came together once we added Ethan Grafton's decadently pop filled score. I really hope you enjoy our little foray into the vain.
