Filmmaker Statement

Project Romeo is a film noir thriller that I believe is as timely as ever. On a personal level, this is a character study of two lovers stuck in a toxic relationship founded on distrust and psychological manipulation. Based on my personal experience, I wanted to explore the dynamic between the “deceiver” and the “deceived” and how those roles are often interchangeable. On a larger scale, the story provides a commentary on the global political climate and how the state of our society, which is on the brink of World War 3, can affect individuals on a microcosmic level. Even though the film is set in an alternative universe (where the Soviet Union has never collapsed and Cold War never ended), it seems like the reality of the world that we live in, is not that much different from that of the film.
