Filmmaker Statement

When my father passed away in 2021, I was cleaning out his home, and I found all these news clippings and poster art from past films. I begin to feel sadness as well as the pull of heart strings, as I was to learn that although my dad seemed to "brag to everyone who would listen" about my accomplishments, he never articulated that sentiment to me. That he was proud of what I had accomplished with my life. And how much I missed not hearing those words. And I soon begin to hear from so many of those I shared my idea with, how universal those themes were between a parent and a child. Purgy's became a place for me that people could come to have those difficult conversations with loved ones, as will as themselves, so that wherever they moved on to after passing, they could do so with peace and forgiveness. I hope this film will inspire those conversations, both externally with loved ones as well as internally, with one's self. Thank you, Robbie
