Filmmaker Statement

“Queen of the Night” is a neo-noir, feminist vampire film with a creeping descent into the unknown. After being stood up for a date, our lead character Nina stumbles onto a pulsating dance floor and finds herself face to face with an attractive stranger with sinister motives. Little does Nina know, her life will soon change forever. Derived from the outcomes of personal experiences in similar situations, this film depicts a scenario where a victim’s assault is swept under the rug - exposing cracks in a world where we want to feel protected. As a self-identified feminist and survivor of assault, I intend to give a voice to those who go unheard. The film incorporates looming dread and magical realism woven into a character study that’s grounded in human experience and I believe this story can resonate with more folks than we realize.
