Filmmaker Statement

I felt the need to make a film that truly represented my Latin-American experience, and this story had been pushing to be made since it came to me as a nightmare at 14 years old. I knew that ROT would speak to many on a visceral level, as a lot of us can relate in one way or another to its characters' experiences. Horror and Thriller are great genres that provide fertile ground to explore complicated, emotional themes through unique approaches that sneak up on us like monsters in the dark.
