I found solace in theatre and in paintings, especially in Sorolla's "Sad Inheritance", during a time I endured physical abuse from my father after my mother's suicide. Despite confronting him after years, the apology never came. Viewing the painting in Museo Sorolla inspired me to create a screenplay with my friend Sergei, refraining from making it a "sob-story." Because our aim wasn't to sympathise but understand the workings of an honest disease - generational trauma and how it circuits.
