Filmmaker Statement

Sapphire is the first independent film I've written, produced, and directed. It's a sci-fi film, in which two struggling roommates encounter an extra-terrestrial being. When faced with this alien, both RJ and Carl realize their value to each other, and to humanity. The inspiration behind the film was my own experience of moving to LA and being homeless. Through this despair, I wondered if it was all worth it. Working a job day after day to survive takes it's toll on a person's psyche. This film explores the characters' need to the escape monotony of their lives on Earth, and the importance of making each moment count.
