Biscayne Bay reached a tipping point, and all living things in the ocean are suffocating. The levels of bacteria in the ocean are constantly rising. Sea-level rise is haunting us year after year. Our city is drowning because our infrastructure is not designed for a sustainable future. Experts, scientists, and local community members are trying to warn of the long-lasting effects we are causing the Bay. Still, most of the South Florida community either looks the other way or they are simply unaware of the issues at hand. Theo Quenee is a local photographer and filmmaker who has been documenting these issues since he was a teenager. He’s made it his mission to spread as much awareness as possible while holding local politicians responsible for their actions, or lack thereof. After years of collecting footage and developing my filmmaking skills, I finally felt confident enough to tell this story to a broader audience.
