Filmmaker Statement

The topic of domestic violence has strongly influenced me for a long time, and it has always been my desire to bring this issue closer to a wider audience. Domestic violence happens far too often, yet it is discussed far too little. "Scars" provides insight into Veronica's life and tells a story about the deeply rooted problems within families and the long-term damage it causes to those affected. It is not a report from an external perspective, but rather a symbolic representation to illustrate the suffering and to show that Veronica and many other people have been subjected to something cruel.
