Filmmaker Statement

"Searching For A Surgeon" is my second short film. After making a sweet musical/comedy (Farewell Shakespeare!), I wanted to surprise the audience with a much bolder, darker and ambitious story. With my talented cast & crew, we aimed to create "a psychedelic Anatolian crime/thriller"... We were inspired by movies like No Country For Old Men, Logan, Nocturnal Animals, The Lighthouse... And the main argument of the film was: "Can a bleeding soul be healed with a band-aid or surgery?" Despite all the impossibilities and difficulties, we set out to create "the greatest mayhem". I believe this project has taught me a lot about storytelling and filmmaking in every aspect. And I hope it will have a great journey in festivals and give me the opportunity to make better/bigger films. I always describe this movie as: "What if Uncut Gems meets Once Upon A Time In Anatolia?"
