Filmmaker Statement

I wanted to make a film that took the piss out of the film industry's flawed audition system, probably as a kind of as catharsis.. So I wrote a script in which the audience are voyeurs as a relationship deteriorates over the filming of a self tape. The self tape isn't the cause of their relationship's demise but it is definitely the catalyst. After discussing a first draft of the script with some actor friends I decided I wanted it to be about insecurity and privilege too as well as just a jibe at casting directors. The cost of living crisis in the UK begs the question of who can still afford to be 'a creative' in 2023. I felt it important to reflect this in the film.
