Send The Rain was built as a response to hundreds of wildfires raging through my province of BC in 2018. My shortness of breath was not only a result of the smoke descending across the province, but compounded by the loss of a woman who was a second mother to me. As I went home and said goodbye, I was struck by how I felt about my hometown. Once it meant everything to leave. Now the pangs of nostalgia were equal parts pain and love. From this place, I started writing. When I returned to the West Coast, I began to spend more time in the Interior and heard many stories from the fires. I found myself reflecting deeply on loss, home, and the devastating environmental shifts that forced so many away from the people and places they love.
