Filmmaker Statement

In most Asian cultures, including Singapore, sexuality remains a taboo topic. For instance, most Asian parents would avoid talking about sex with their children. Furthermore, most people are uncomfortable discussing female masturbation. As Asian women, we believe in the importance of dispelling the taboo around sex. We also want to promote a healthy attitude and acceptance towards sexuality and self-pleasure, especially female self-pleasure. As independent animators and filmmakers, we believe that the medium of animation is apt for the story because it will allow us to tell the story through metaphors, exaggerations, and surrealist humour, all of which will be more limited if we were to use a live-action format. Through the use of comedy, we hope to create a fun film that will spark conversations around sex positivity and break down prejudices around female self-pleasure.
