Filmmaker Statement

Suffering Contest is a project I made with many of my closest friends. I co-wrote it with my best friend from childhood, and the characters we play aren’t too far from who we are in real life, for better or for worse. The project is many things to me, a satire of the modern obsession with success and #grindset culture, an exploration of codependency within friendship, and a way to channel my own anxieties about failure. But if I'm being honest, it’s really just an excuse for me and my friends to come up with ideas we think are funny and try to make each other laugh. And to have fun.
