Filmmaker Statement

I wanted to create this film for the same reason I originally drew that defining moment in my sketchbook. I thought it was worth remembering and ultimately worth sharing with others. I love being surprised by nature’s beauty or the kindness of strangers or moments of deep realizations brought on by some seemingly insignificant event. Real tangible magic is around us all the time but we don’t always see it. There is something special about a human drawing a selected portion of their vast environment, choosing one moment in a day they thought worth recording and giving it permanence and authority. Through this process that takes much longer than the clicking of a button on a photographic device, time stands still, textures, fine lines, colour and light are appreciated and encoded not just on paper, but now forever fixed in our minds.
