Filmmaker Statement

Last summer Andy and I watched a blockbuster film with an incredibly melodramatic and over-acted death scene that we could not stop laughing about. We then started thinking about how interesting it would be to put a death scene in a high-stakes environment like a WWII battlefield and have something awkward revealed in the dramatic moments before a character's death, just to see how the protagonist reckons with that. We had never made anything period-specific, and it was a lot of work to get that classic WWII look (shout-out to the actors for agreeing to wear heavy wool in 90 degree heat and our genius DP Matt Antonucci), but we're so excited to show you the culmination of our efforts, and we hope you love it as much as we do.
