This past April, I was watching a documentary about outer space, and I had this sudden rush of memories from my childhood in the mid 90s. In 1995, my elementary school art teacher converted an old bus into a replica of the Challenger space shuttle, and used it as a science lab. The lab was named "The Blake." I tracked down my teacher to talk about The Blake, and everything snowballed. Every person I contacted, including astronauts from NASA, immediately wanted to be part of telling this story. My experience with the Blake has always been an emotional one, and is all tangled up in one of the hardest times of my life. I wanted to make this film to let people know that The Blake existed. And that my brother existed. And that the impact of both will affect me for the rest of my life. We were honored to receive Panavision's New Filmmakers Post Production Grant for the film's color correction. We are just now starting to submit to festivals. We really hope you enjoy the film.
