Filmmaker Statement

A year ago we embedded with an armed civilian group along the US-Mexico border, seeking to understand the operations and motivations of those who spend unpaid, unsanctioned weeks of their lives patrolling the barren land. What we found was one story that hit close to home and inspired The Border Between. An experiment in the blurred lines between what’s real and the stories we tell ourselves, the film is intended to express the painful impact of drug addiction & the desperation it invokes for its bystanders, while inspiring conversation about what it means to take control of this crisis.
