The horrors of slavery have never been fully addressed as a nation. In fact, there has been a recent push to ban relevant books and restrict any discussion of critical race theory in the classroom, regulating what our youth are able to learn about American history. The Ghost Under My Bed is about a little girl from Boston who moves to a southern plantation, exposing her to this cruel new world. Her childhood experience with a ghost will haunt her for decades before she can find peace. I created this piece as a stop-motion animation, hoping it’s a story that will reach young people as well as adults, about an important (albeit uncomfortable) chapter from our past.
