Filmmaker Statement

I shot this movie when I was 18. Since we filmed on an active subway platform, we couldn't record any sound on location. In order to complete the film's soundscape, I created more than 600 sound effects from scratch, and pulled an additional 200 from online databases. Post-production took almost three years. As a 21 year-old now, ready to graduate college, I realize I’ve grown a lot since I was initially inspired to tell this story. I had just started as a freshman then, and I was scared that becoming a working adult might sap my passion and imagination—traits I cherished dearly. The grey, decrepit monster in this film is my personification of those fears. He waits for young passers-by so he can drain the color from their skin, too. After three years of work and personal growth, I've learned what the protagonist learns by the end of the film: Maturing doesn’t mean you have to leave anything behind. You can let your passions guide you as you venture forward. Please enjoy the film.
