Filmmaker Statement

The One in Red is a film that embodies my personal life and love for the arts. There have been many moments when I've questioned reality and why it's worth it to keep going amongst our failures, not only with ourselves but with those around us. People will be disappointed in us, and the weight of guilt will continuously chase us. Creating this story, I pursued this idea with two characters: The Red Ronin, the protagonist on a quest to die an unfulfilling death, and The Cloaked Figure, a spirit of his past pushing him to go on with him to paradise. However, I added one more character into the pot: The Gray Ronin, a dangerous man who, despite being a hunter, is one with much wisdom and ultimately becomes The Red Ronin's angel on his shoulders. Each character represents a part of myself. Writing them all in this story was the most meditative experience I've ever had. I could explore my thoughts and put them down on paper through the dialogue and actions of each character. It's all j
