Filmmaker Statement

This film was made initially as a simple act of wanting to make a film whereby I could show my best friend's acting talents and practice my own film making skills. It started off as a simple concept, but quickly grew larger and more ambitious. As the story developed I realized it was not just a film about suicide, but more importantly about depression and the enormous effort it takes to get out of it. It was not my intention from the start, but I realized I was making a film that encapsulated my own recent experience dealing with this mental health issue, one which was heightened by the isolation I experienced during a pandemic induced lockdown. In the end it was a tremendous effort from a tiny crew of both foreigners and locals living in Hanoi, Vietnam that came together to ultimately complete this film. I hope that it can not just entertain those that watch it, but also speak to those that are going through dark times, to know they are not alone. Things can and do get better.
