Filmmaker Statement

With This Must Be Yours I wanted to take a character who appears eminently "normal" - the kind of person we pass everyday- and follow her life for just long enough to subvert that normality and reveal a weirdness that at once individuates and universalises her. It's a film that is designed to provoke a range of theories and responses, and it's always exciting to hear peoples' varied interpretations. Ultimately, for me, it's a story about all the words we cannot say, the strange solutions we find to avoid communication, and the unique intimacy that we can find with total strangers.
