Three Feet Under is really about the power of female friendship - how it grounds us, saves us, and sometimes pulls us out of the worst situations. I wanted to explore how emotionally abusive relationships can wear down that connection, but through a lighthearted, campy lens. I wanted this film to feel ridiculous and a little bit messy - like real life often is. Even though the story has dark undertones, I never wanted it to feel heavy. Humor has always been how I process difficult things, and I think a lot of women can relate to that. We laugh, we cope, and we move through life with our girlfriends beside us. At its heart, this film is a love letter to the friends who show up when everything falls apart, the ones who will help you bury the evidence (sometimes literally) and still make it back in time for the party.
