Filmmaker Statement

TWO BREATHS is a short adventure drama that reflects my own perspective and the life challenges I have overcome. As a female refugee who left her home country at a very young age on her own, this is a story about how home is an important part of everyone's identity and how you can never truly leave that part of yourself. Just like the main character, a little girl named Ava, I had to overcome many inner struggles to let go of the past and keep on living my life. An important underlying message of Two Breaths is that humans must live in harmony with nature for a sustainable future. After being held hostage and witnessing cruel wars and human-made losses with my own eyes, I can only wish people would be less destructive and think more about how to take better care of each other and our beautiful world.
