Filmmaker Statement

I drew from my Ukrainian folk dance background to craft a universal story about legacy, culture, and the positive side of the human spirit. Bringing the vibrant world of Ukrainian dance to the screen, my movie spotlights a community seldom seen in cinema from an authentic, insider point of view. Collaborating with choreographers, dancers, and local community members, this was one of the most challenging yet fulfilling shoots of my career. Shot in 3.5 days at the Ukrainian Culture Center of Los Angeles. Featuring dancers from 5 assorted troupes, and the refugee children of Chervona Kalyna school in Hollywood.
