A girl's mother has started to levitate unconsciously. At the same time, the girl grapples with an unusually optimistic doctor's visit.
Young people, with the speed and quantity of stimuli that enter and exit our minds on a daily basis, have developed an enhanced processing speed. However, we have also lost our sense of grounding. We are constantly in flux, and it’s easy to become lost in a sea of data and become numb to it. But just because our attention spans have devolved into blips on a heart monitor, it doesn’t mean we stopped dealing with the big questions of life.
With Untitled Floating Mom Short, we set out to reflect the desensitized nature of the main character through her stream of consciousness narrative. The Girl has found herself lost. Is it because of her floating mom, or is the floating mom a result of her state of mind? When we have become unmoored in life, a lot of times we feel alone. Even when we can connect with millions at the tap of a screen, those moments are fleeting and inconsequential. Sometimes, all we need is someone or something to meet us in the corner we are hiding in.
