Filmmaker Statement

Regardless of party affiliation, I believe each of us has a duty and a responsibility to be engaged and take an active role in our democracy. There can be plenty of reasons to be cynical; but not voting isn’t an act of protest. It’s a surrender. I wanted to use my talents to help inspire and motivate people to use their superpower, their vote. A symbolic journey through America’s history of voting rights. Each election cycle we are bombarded with messages about who we should vote for. Perhaps many have lost sight of what politics and democracy are all about. But I believe if I can remind people WHY they should vote, then I will have done my part. “We the People.” Those words represent the life force of our democracy. And with this piece I aim to ignite a new life into it during a tremulous time. One that will hopefully endure for years to come.
