Filmmaker Statement

The creation of this film came to me at a very crucial time of my life. I didn't fully comprehend it at first, but I knew that I was going to be telling a story about isolation, detachment from you life, and the ways people try and make up for it. This film unintentionally was a cathartic expression of emotions that I have bottled up throughout my teenage years that I couldn't healthily express. One of the aspects that this film utilizes that I also felt very passionate about was the use of technology and social media as a main factor of the communication and storytelling. Even just 10 to 15 years ago, the idea of having "online" connections, friends, and relationships was seen as foreign or unrealistic. But now, the internet and virtual communication is one of the most common ways of creating connections with other people, and this film can represent my generation of young adults who used online outlets as means to cope with dissatisfaction with any real world experiences; healthy or
