Filmmaker Statement

My most fulfilling project. It was a two-year grind built on my lifetime passion and respect for movie musicals. I wanted to showcase the power of the movie musical as--what I believe to be--the most creatively freeing form of film. I wanted to make a movie musical that didn't just feature music and dance but made it so the music and dance were an integral part of the form and storytelling of the film. As a young immigrant, it was most important to me to make this film represent the chaotic but beautiful fusion of culture, art, and life that I believe embodies the modern-day America I grew up in.
