A few months ago we were approached by the Second Class Foundation with the idea to create a film that examines the state of education in the United States. A daunting task for sure but as we got into it, we honed in on the story of Bonners Ferry - one of the poorest school districts in all of America located in rural Idaho. The building hasn't been repaired in over 80 years - it gets unbearably cold in the winter and too hot to stand in the summer. Yet the staff and teachers' devotion to their students was palpable. It was the love that the teachers had for their students that compelled us to create the film. Regardless of circumstances that are out of their control, these teachers still wanted to nurture the best learning environment that they could. Our hope is that this feeling comes across in our portrait of Bonners Ferry.
