Filmmaker Statement

As a filmmaker, I had the opportunity to direct, co-write, and produce my second short film, titled WHEATPASTE. Using a BMPCC 6K Pro with a minor lighting and sound setup, we faced unexpected challenges when the location changed the day before filming. Despite the freezing cold weather, heavy wind, and trains passing every 5 minutes under the bridge we filmed in Manhattan, we pushed through to bring our vision to life. Personally, I am proud of the direction and shot selection choices we made, particularly the contrast between the dramatic color grade and subtle humor in the dialogue. Learning from a previous experience where a short didn't turn out as planned, I kept everything at a level that could be executed with the tools available in order to bring this film to fruition.
