Filmmaker Statement

When This All Ends is the product of a pandemic. At the beginning of 2020, we had started pre-production on another short that myself, Lizzy Miller, Cory Stonebrook, & Tiffany Trainer were set to film in the fall. When it became evident that the project would be unrealistic to actualize, we pivoted. We were still committed to bringing a story to life, and one question was on everyone's mind: When will this all end? When will life get back to normal, and once it does--how will it have changed us? Lizzy and I brainstormed some ideas, and Cory wrote a script that could be made in one place, with four people. We took three days with the bare essentials and made a film in a cabin in upstate NY. When This All Ends is the story of two sisters overcoming the grief of what might have been, through the observation of a heart broken writer. It's about loss, perspective, accepting the present and ultimately hope. -Jordan Sommerlad, director
