Filmmaker Statement

"A Tale of Two Birds" is more than just a personal work: It is about my grandma and grandpa - or rather about how my grandma deals with the fact that my grandpa is no longer there; that the "good old days" are now finally behind her. But it is not only thematically that the film is closely tied to my family: The main parts are played by my aunt, my uncle and my grandma herself. Behind the camera, another part of the family has also contributed its best to the success of the project. The short film project thus became - along with its imperfections - a nostalgic look back at collective family memories, a shared way of dealing with grief and loss, as well as a loving remembrance and thank you to a grandfather, father and husband.
