The political signs we put in our yard are simple and quick, they provide a vague snapshot of our beliefs in only the time it takes for a car to whizz by. This behavior lives on in our social media, where character limits force us to reduce a thought down to a slogan - a few words that spark a wide web of snap-judgements on people we've never met. I’d just spent a year producing testimonial ads for the Biden and Harris campaigns, capturing real people advocating for a better future. I took on the job with a healthy distrust of politicians and curiosity to see the country. Having seen over 21 states in the past 18 months, I knew I had to complete my campaign journey in the loudest, most targeted election hub of all; my hometown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Pennsylvanians can’t seem to escape the overwhelm of signs and propaganda, and yet, just a little sign can mean so much. I hope my neighbors can serve as a reminder that we have always lived next to people we don’t agree with.
