With MING LI, I wanted to answer the age old question: what would happen if Jean-Luc Godard made Air Bud? I'm only half kidding. After the pandemic, I wanted to tell a story about resilience and the power of identity with the friend that got me through it. It only became a more poignant project as Ming Li would be diagnosed with a degenerative heart condition during post-production only months after we would unexpectedly move away from Los Angeles for good - her birthplace and our home for the past ten years. So, then, MING LI ended up being a farewell kiss to L.A. and a thank you note to my best friend. It's that existential talking dog movie I'd set out to make, after all. Hope you enjoy it.
